Piecing the Puzzle Together

We started the session today with adding an extra puzzle piece to our collection of thoughts. Each day we added a piece after our Exhibition session- the piece had the main messages we thought the session was about. Sam's main message was "start local, think global". The Court Jesters talked about teamwork. We are getting a clearer image each day. Today we thought about what we have seen, heard and done.  We each came up with a question about what we wanted to know at this stage in the Exhibition. We found out that a lot of our questions were similar and when we sat down and discussed them we could answer a lot of it ourselves. EllaS, Reilly and Emily

The Court Jesters

Court Jesters - slideshows

Today we were extremely privileged to have the Court Jesters come and work with us. We learnt about adding elements to create a clearer picture. We learnt that through playing some picture games where we added elements to our story to create a clearer picture. I learnt that even though we are only ten or eleven year old girls we can make an impact. We need to start one detail at a time.

We loved the 'I am a tree game'... we could make good and bad scenes. Looking deeper into this we realized we had to work as a team and rely on other people to make the bigger picture.

We were also encouraged to try out a new personality- it felt so strange to be the outgoing member of a group and take charge.

Exhibition

First Day of Exhibition

We focused today about how to think deeper about who we really are, we saw some video clips about teamwork and how every person in a team has a job, not just the people in the limelight. Sam Johnson, the founder of the Student Army, came and spoke to us about how helping isn't necessarily about making money but how every small action helps. We can think about how we can play a part in a change to Christchurch. He talked to us about his travels, the United Nations, and his experiences. We are now thinking about the different projects we might do for Exhibition, we need to open up this opportunity to the people in our community.

We played a game that Sam learnt in India, then Sam spoke to us about his experience, we videoed some of the clips here.

Here are the links to some of the videos we watched.
